About Ecologi
Ecologi was founded by a group of environmentalists in Bristol, UK. Frustrated that many individuals and businesses are unable to contribute to the colossal climate problem, they created a platform to facilitate personal / business contribution and collective action to help tackle the climate emergency.
One of the best tools they identified to tackle the climate crisis and keep our temperatures from rising above 1.5C, is to plant more trees. Reforestation initiatives are also crucial in preventing the collapse of our planet's biodiversity. Ecologi manage a range of amazing tree planting schemes all around the world, and plant millions of trees every month on behalf of their community’s members - brands like us.
Since 2019 when the platform started, they have planted 40 Million trees. And not just any trees but specifically Mangrove tress - which are the only species that can thrive in saltwater and are so-called 'super trees'. Here's why:
🌳 They capture 2 - 4 times more carbon than tropical forests.
🐠 They offer the perfect nursing environment for fish.
👨👩👦 Their extensive roots help protect communities from sea level rises and storms.
💪 Mangroves’ survival rate is extremely high!
🌱 Finally, they produce propagules (small trees) which mean after a few years there will be far more trees in the ground than were initially planted!
Our Partnership
We've kicked off our partnership by investing in 100 trees. The great thing about Ecologi is, it's completely integrated into our Shopify site and offers a seamless and free service to our customers. This means for every candle you buy, we will plant one tree - at no extra cost. How does this work? Shopify automatically apply a £0.26 charge to our monthly subscription for every product sold that month - so a small percentage of our profits are invested immediately back into climate initiatives. You can keep up to date and track our climate action progress via our brand homepage on the Ecologi platform.
